warhammer 40k tabletop games
74warhammer 40k, a very addictive strategy game
This is a little example of how warhammer has been such a part of my life, so much so that some would call it an addiction, I have been called a warhammer addict, warhammer pig, ect. and justly so though I hold no regrets regarding my addiction.
I first got interested in warhammer 40k when I saw a white dwarf magazine that one of my friends had, Including my past love of dungeons and dragons, strategy games and various collectible card games this fit right in. Being in high school and a social geek it was easy to pick this game up as there were various associated friends who were already into the game. Playing, modeling, painting and just immersing myself in the game really kept me out of other temptations and as a result I feel that it has really helped mold me into the person that I am today.
After high school my passion grew into an obsession wanting more of everything the models the paints the social interaction of the game was the core of the drive for me, the time with my friends were really great times. Funny how such a simple game can grow such large bonds with friends, one of the values I hold most dear to this day. It got to the point that the friendship and the love of the game drove me to more. I got a tattoo of the symbol of chaos undivided, my first and most favorite army. Had stickers made of the same thing, none of these things are cheap especially the models themselves, to this day I have spent over $12500.00 on this obsession. I really have no intention of stopping though I have slowed it down tremendously over the past few years since I got married and have kids. I still have intentions of a full back tattoo regarding this great passionate pastime as well as puttering away at modeling/painting and revel the moments that friends can pop in to play for an evening or even in an old folks home when i am really old... heh.
I really am not a person to toot my own horn so to speak, but I am proud of the paintings that I have done over the years. there are some pictures included of a few different models that I have painted. though I know that there are some really awesome painters out there. heck there is even a number of competitions regarding this topic. when you step back and take a look at the real fan base and the huge tournaments held, you really get a sense that there is obviously something worth playing. In doing so I think that there are a lot of people who are out there that have similar feeling towards this game, there are so many reasons for getting into the game and even now the fan base has increased dramatically with release of warhammer computer games, of which i have most if not all. though there really is no comparison to the actual table top game. Its like comparing a book to a movie but so much more. so if you read this, I hope I have inspired you to at least give the game a chance for it may just change your life and to those who already play, I am sure you know the passion that I speak of, so embrace it, relish it and never let it go. keep those rule books and models tucked away for those nights were you get the opportunity, you won't regret it!

My goal was to build an entire space marine chapter. I haven't been able to play for several years, though.
